1. Provider and Scope of Application
These General Terms and Conditions of Business and Use, hereinafter referred to as the “GTC,” apply to the use of the website stepsformiles.com, the Steps4Miles mobile application, the Steps4Miles user account, and the associated services and features.

These Terms and Conditions apply to individuals who use Steps4Miles for personal purposes.
Additional terms and conditions may apply to specific promotions, contests, rewards, partner offers, or paid services. Such terms and conditions will be explicitly noted prior to their respective use.
2. About StepsforMiles
StepsforMiles is a digital platform focused on exercise, motivation, community, and rewards.
The features offered may include, in particular:
> Tracking and displaying steps,
> Importing step data from Apple Health,
> Verifying steps,
> Personal progress and statistics,
> StepCoins,
> Rankings,
> Steps4Miles Leagues,
> Friends Leagues,
> Challenges,
> League-vs-League Challenges,
> Friendships and community features,
> Messaging between users,
> Profile features, and
> Additional rewards, partner offers, or fitness experiences in the future.
The specific range of features may vary depending on the version, country, device, and stage of development.
3. Minimum age
You must be at least 16 years old to register for and use a StepsforMiles user account. When registering, users confirm that they meet this requirement and provide accurate information regarding their date of birth.
StepsforMiles may suspend or delete an account if it is determined that the age requirement has not been met.
4. Registration and User Account
A personal user account is required for key features. When registering, the requested information must be provided completely and truthfully. Each user is obligated to:
> keep their login credentials confidential,
> not disclose their password to third parties,
> not make their account available to other people, and
> immediately notify Steps4Miles of any suspected unauthorized access.
A user account is personal and, as a general rule, non-transferable. The use of multiple accounts to circumvent rules, reward restrictions, rankings, or security mechanisms is not permitted.
5. Service Availability
We strive to ensure the highest possible availability and reliability of Steps4Miles. However, we cannot guarantee uninterrupted, error-free, or fully available service at all times. In particular, temporary restrictions may arise due to:
> maintenance work,
> updates,
> technical malfunctions,
> network or third-party service outages,
> security measures,
> changes to Apple services or operating systems, and
> events beyond our control.
To the extent possible, we will make every effort to provide adequate notice of planned major restrictions.
6. Apple Health and steps data
With the user’s consent, StepsforMiles can retrieve step counts from Apple Health / HealthKit.
StepsforMiles retrieves only step data and no other health data such as heart rate, weight, sleep, or medical information. Use of Apple Health is optional. Without the appropriate authorization, step-based features may not be available or may be limited. StepsforMiles has no complete control over:
> the accuracy of the steps tracked by the device,
> the availability of Apple Health,
> synchronization times,
> device errors, or
> data from other apps and devices that provide information to Apple Health.
Therefore, we cannot guarantee that all displayed step counts will be complete or error-free at all times.
7. Manually entered and external steps
Steps manually entered into Apple Health are not taken into account for step-based verification and reward calculation. Step data from other devices or applications may be taken into account, provided it is made available through Apple Health and meets the required technical and plausibility checks.
There is no guarantee that every external data source will be accepted by StepsforMiles.
8. Step Confirmation
Simply tracking steps does not automatically result in a reward being credited. If confirmation is required, the user must confirm the steps using the feature provided in the app.
Different technical values may be used for rankings, rewards, or other features. The rules displayed in the app at any given time are authoritative.
9. Validation and Anti-Cheat
To prevent manipulation and ensure fair rankings, challenges, and rewards, Steps4Miles uses technical plausibility and security checks. In particular, the following can be verified:
> the origin and technical validity of step data,
> temporal relationships,
> unusual spikes in step counts,
> verification processes, and
> other technical characteristics relevant to the integrity of the system.
Implausible, manipulated, or technically invalid values may be:
> disregarded,
> limited,
> not confirmed, or
> excluded from reward calculations.
Any attempt to circumvent or manipulate security, plausibility, or reward mechanisms is prohibited.
10. StepCoins
StepCoins are an internal digital reward and points system operated by Steps4Miles. StepCoins are:
> not legal tender,
> not a bank deposit,
> not a cryptocurrency,
> not a security, and
> not a claim to cash payment.
StepCoins may only be used in accordance with the rules established by Steps4Miles. There is no entitlement to exchange them for cash. The transfer, sale, or trading of StepCoins outside of the functions expressly provided for by Steps4Miles is not permitted.
11. Acquisition of StepCoins
StepCoins can be earned, in particular, through:
> confirmed steps,
> goals,
> streaks,
> challenges,
> league achievements,
> referrals, or
other activities defined by StepsforMiles.
The applicable reward rules and requirements are displayed within the app or as part of the relevant promotion. There is no guarantee that specific reward rules will remain unchanged indefinitely.
12. Changes to the Reward-Systems
StepsforMiles may change reward rules, calculations, limits, and requirements for future activities if there are objective reasons to do so, in particular:
> Product development,
> Prevention of abuse,
> Economic sustainability,
> Introduction of new rewards,
> Technical changes, or
> Changes to partner offers.
Changes shall generally apply to future activities. StepCoins that have already been properly credited will not be retroactively revoked solely due to a subsequent change in the reward rules. This is subject to corrections in the event of:
> technical errors,
> obviously incorrect credits,
> manipulation,
> fraud, or
> violations of these Terms and Conditions.
13. No entitlement to specific rewards or partners
In the future, Steps4Miles may offer rewards, benefits, or promotions from partner companies. You are only entitled to:
> a specific reward,
> a specific partner,
> a specific redemption option,
> Miles & More, or
> the ongoing availability of a partner offer
If this is expressly stated for the respective offer. Currently, StepCoins constitute an internal Steps4Miles rewards system.
14. Rankings and Leagues
StepsforMiles offers rankings and league systems. Ranking positions and league results are calculated based on the currently valid technical and gameplay rules. Rankings may change, in particular, due to:
> newly confirmed steps,
> corrections,
> technical reviews,
> changes in membership, or
> the exclusion of invalid data
A specific rank or league position is not guaranteed.
15. Friends’ Leagues and Challenges
Users can—where available—create friend leagues, join other leagues, and participate in challenges.
Additional rules may apply to individual challenges, particularly regarding:
> Participation period,
> Scoring,
> Number of participants,
> Rewards, and
> Participation requirements.
Such specific rules are displayed within the respective challenge and supplement these Terms and Conditions.
16. Community and social Functions
StepsforMiles includes social features that allow users to interact with one another. These include, in particular:
> Profiles,
> Friendships,
> Rankings,
> Friends’ Leagues,
> Challenges, and
> Messages.
Users are required to treat others with respect and to respect the rights of other users.
17. Prohibited Content and Conduct
In particular, the following are not permitted:
> offensive, threatening, or harassing content,
> hate speech or discriminatory content,
> illegal content,
> sexual or pornographic content, to the extent that it is inappropriate for the platform,
> incitement to violence,
> targeted bullying,
> identity theft,
> spam,
> fraudulent offers,
> malware or harmful links,
> unauthorized publication of other people’s personal data,
> manipulation of rankings or rewards, and
> attempts to circumvent security mechanisms.
StepsforMiles may remove such content and take action against the affected user accounts.
18. User-Generated Content
Users generally retain the rights to the content they post, particularly their own profile pictures or messages.
The user grants Steps4Miles only the rights technically necessary to use this content within the scope of the selected features:
> to store it,
> to process it,
> to display it within the app, and
> to transmit it to recipients designated by the user.
These rights exist only to the extent and for as long as necessary for the operation of the respective feature.
19. Third-Party Rights to Uploaded Content
Users may only upload or distribute content for which they hold the necessary rights. In particular, the following may not be used without the appropriate authorization:
> third-party photos,
> copyrighted works,
> trademarks,
> personal data, or
> other protected content
The user is responsible for the content they provide.
20. News and Hosting
Users can report specific content or other users, provided that such features are available. StepsforMiles may review reported content and accounts. Depending on the nature and severity of a violation, the following measures, in particular, may be taken:
> Notice or warning,
> Removal of content,
> Restriction of certain features,
> Temporary suspension, or
> Permanent suspension of the user account.
In cases of serious violations, action may be taken without prior warning.
21. Messages
Messaging features may only be used for permitted communication. In particular, users may not send:
> unsolicited bulk messages,
> fraudulent messages,
> illegal content,
> harassment, or
> malicious files or links
Messages are not currently end-to-end encrypted.

22. Account Suspension and Termination by StepsforMiles
StepsforMiles may temporarily restrict or permanently terminate a user account if a user:
> materially or repeatedly violates these Terms of Service,
> manipulates rankings or rewards,
> misuses fake accounts or multiple accounts,
> endangers or harasses other users,
> attacks technical systems,
> acts fraudulently, or
> violates applicable law.
To the extent circumstances permit, the user will be informed of the reason prior to a permanent suspension.
In cases of serious security breaches, abuse, or legal violations, an immediate suspension may be imposed.
23. Account Deletion by the User
Users can delete their StepsforMiles account using the designated feature.
Account deletion is permanent. In doing so, the personal data associated with the user account will be deleted in accordance with our Privacy Policy. Upon account deletion:
> active sessions will end,
> participation in community features will end,
> League and Challenge assignments may be revoked, and
> any existing StepCoin balance will expire.
We cannot guarantee that the user account or StepCoins can be restored after deletion.
24. Intellectual Property
The StepsforMiles app, website, and related components are protected by copyright and, where applicable, trademark law. This applies in particular to:
> software,
> source code,
> designs,
> graphics,
> text,
> logos,
> names,
> league systems,
> illustrations, and
> other content provided by StepsforMiles.
This content may not be reproduced, modified, distributed, used commercially, or otherwise exploited without our prior consent, unless expressly permitted by law.
25. Using the iOS App and Apple
The StepsforMiles app is available through the Apple App Store. The license to use the iOS application is additionally governed by the applicable terms and conditions of the Apple App Store and—unless a separate StepsforMiles End User License Agreement is agreed upon—the Apple Standard End User License Agreement (Standard EULA).
These Terms and Conditions govern, in particular, the contractual relationship regarding the Steps4Miles service and user account. Apple is not the operator of the Steps4Miles service. Apple is not obligated to provide support for Steps4Miles.
The Apple Standard EULA also stipulates that third-party apps are generally licensed and not sold.
26. Health and Medical Information
StepsforMiles is an exercise, motivation, and rewards platform. StepsforMiles is not a medical service and is not a substitute for:
> medical advice,
> diagnosis,
> medical treatment, or
> professional health counseling.
Step counts, goals, challenges, rankings, and rewards should not be construed as medical recommendations. Users are responsible for adjusting their physical activity levels to their personal abilities and health conditions.
If you have any health concerns or uncertainties, you should seek expert medical advice.
27. No Guarantee of Specific Health Outcomes
StepsforMiles does not promise any specific health, athletic, or physical results. In particular, Steps4Miles does not guarantee that using the app will lead to:
> weight loss,
> improved fitness,
> specific health metrics, or
> any other medical results.
The app is designed to support physical activity and motivation.
28. Warranty and Technical Accuracy
We strive to provide our services with care and reliability.
However, technical data may depend on devices, operating systems, Apple Health, network connections, and other technical factors. We therefore do not guarantee the absolute accuracy at all times of:
> step counts,
> synchronization times,
> leaderboard rankings, or
> technical status indicators.
Statutory warranty rights remain unaffected.
29. Liability
StepsforMiles is liable in accordance with statutory provisions for damages caused intentionally or through gross negligence. Any limitation of liability applies only to the extent permitted by law. In particular, mandatory claims arising from:
> personal injury,
> product liability,
> data protection law, and
> mandatory consumer protection law
> remain unaffected.
In cases of slight negligence, liability is limited, to the extent permitted by law, to foreseeable damages typical for this type of contract. A complete disclaimer of liability would be particularly problematic in a consumer relationship; Swiss law also sets limits on unreasonable terms and conditions.
30. Third-party provider
Certain features may require third-party services, such as:
> Apple App Store,
> Apple Health,
> Internet or mobile service providers, and
> partner services in the future.
The terms and conditions of the respective third-party provider also apply to such services.
StepsforMiles cannot guarantee that third-party services will remain available indefinitely without change.
31. Third-Party Costs
Depending on the user’s contract, third-party costs may arise from the use of StepsforMiles, in particular:
> Internet costs,
> mobile phone costs, or
> fees charged by the respective device or platform provider.
These costs are not charged by Steps4Miles and must be borne by the user.
32. Paid Services
If StepsforMiles introduces paid services, products, subscriptions, or other paid offerings in the future, the following will be clearly displayed before the respective order is placed:
> Price,
> Scope of services,
> Term,
> Payment terms, and
> Termination conditions, if applicable
Additional terms and conditions may apply to such offerings.
These Terms and Conditions do not, in and of themselves, constitute an obligation to purchase paid services.
33. Changes and Further Development of the Service
StepsforMiles is continuously being developed. We may:
> add features,
> improve them,
> make technical changes, or
> discontinue them for valid reasons.
In doing so, we take into account the legitimate interests of our users.
In the event of significant changes that substantially affect existing usage, we will notify users in advance, as appropriate.
34. Changes to These Terms and Conditions
These Terms and Conditions may be amended if there is a valid reason to do so, such as:
> new features,
> changes in legal requirements,
> new partner offers,
> security requirements, or
> technical advancements.
Users will be notified of material changes in an appropriate manner.
If renewed consent is required by law or due to the nature of the change, it will be obtained before further use.
35. Privacy Policy
Information regarding the processing of personal data is provided in our separate Privacy Policy.
The Privacy Policy is not part of the consent to these Terms and Conditions, but rather provides independent information about data processing.
36. Applicable Law
Swiss law shall apply in all cases.
For consumers whose habitual residence is in Germany, Austria, or another country, the mandatory consumer protection provisions of their country of residence remain unaffected, to the extent that such provisions are legally applicable.
In particular, the choice of law must not deprive the consumer of the protection afforded by mandatory provisions to which the consumer is entitled under applicable consumer protection law.
37. Place of Jurisdiction
In the event of disputes, the places of jurisdiction provided for by law shall apply.
To the extent that mandatory consumer protection regulations provide for a place of jurisdiction at the consumer’s place of residence, these rights remain unaffected.
These Terms and Conditions do not establish an exclusive agreement on the place of jurisdiction to the detriment of consumers.
38. Severability Clause
Should any provision of these Terms and Conditions be wholly or partially invalid or unenforceable, the remaining provisions shall generally remain unaffected, to the extent permitted by law.
The invalid provision shall be replaced by the applicable statutory provisions.
